Beginners Karate Course

The Beginners Karate Course is a comprehensive set of karate classes that teaches all the basic skills to prepare for a grading to 10th Kyu.

10th Kyu - Red Belt - 10th Kyu - Red belt

Kihon (Basic Techniques)

  • Oi Zuki.

Gohon Kumite (5 Step Sparring)

  • Jodan (to examiner’s count).

Kaeshi Ippon Kumite

  • From Gedan Barai, first person attacks Jodan Oi Zuki, defender steps back using Age Uke and counters with Oi Zuki Chudan. The first person steps back with Ude Uke and counters with Gyaku Zuki Chudan.
  • This combination is performed twice each side by both people.

Kihon Ippon Kumite

  • Two techniques each for Jodan, Chudan, Mae Geri, Kekomi, Mawashi Geri.
  • Both sides, same defense not to be repeated on the same side.

Kata

  • Heian Godan.
  • Plus one previous Kata of the Examiner’s choice.
