Tribute to Sensei John Morgan 7th Dan (1938-2024)

It is with great sadness that SHOTO announces that Sensei John Morgan passed away on 15th December 2024.  We offer our deepest condolences to Sensei's family and friends at this very difficult time.

Sensei Morgan (1938-2024) started his karate training in 1972 under the renowned karate master Enoede Sensei in the famous Marshall Street baths in Central London. He joined Sensei Randall as a brown belt, achieving 1st kyu in 1978, 1st Dan in 1979, 2nd Dan in 1981, 3rd Dan in 1984, 4th Dan in 1989, 5th Dan in 1994, 6th Dan in 2000 and 7th Dan in 2007.

Those who trained with him or were taught by him were struck by his knowledge, enthusiasm and application of karate.  His monumental strength and presence were inspirational, and he has been a huge influence on his students’ lives. He will be remembered fondly for his etiquette, humility, humour, but above all his karate spirit.

Rest in Peace.
