I'm delighted to formally record that Ian Davey, 1st Dan of Harpenden Club has attained the attained the status of SHOTO Qualified Instructor having completed the SHOTO Instructor Programme.
The purpose of the Programme, which has recently been introduced, is for SHOTO to ensure that its upcoming 1st, 2nd and 3rd Dan Instructors are persons who have not only passed the relevant gradings, but have been assessed as being a competent karate instructor. The Programme therefore, purposefully sets a high bar for karate instruction in order to maintain the very high standards of traditional Shotokan karate of which SHOTO is justly proud.
Ian worked through the syllabus diligently over Spring/Summer, training at both Harpenden and Sawbridgeworth, and delivered a detailed lesson on 3rd September which was both well planned and executed. He continues to assist with lessons occasionally and I'm sure there will be many more opportunities to do so. On behalf of the Technical Committee, I would like to congratulate Ian and to thank him for his ongoing commitment to SHOTO.
Well done Ian! Oss!
